Lockdown won’t stop these uni students from graduating

April 8, 2020

Students from the University of Canterbury found a way to mark their graduation while at home.

A group of students from the University of Canterbury are making light of the level 4 lockdown by celebrating their graduation online.

Seventy students and their parents who were supposed to attend a ceremony at the university instead joined a Zoom call for a virtual graduation.

The internet event, organised by student Timmy Kwok, included an archival performance of the national anthem sung by Hayley Westenra at an All Black's game and former Prime Minister Helen Cark participating in a pōwhiri.
