Listen: Extracts of conversation between Czech drug smuggler Karel Sroubek and estranged wife released

December 18, 2018

The National Party released parts of the phone conversation to media today.

Extracts from a recording of a conversation between Czech drug smuggler Karel Sroubek and his estranged wife over a character reference letter have been released.

The letter was included in Mr Sroubek’s residency application , which was originally granted by Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway before a review in November found Mr Sroubek was liable for deportation. Sroubek is currently in prison.

The phone call was reportedly recorded on May 3. The woman had sent the reference letter already, however it appeared Mr Sroubek wanted to see it before it was sent.

Only two extracts of the conversation were released to media through the National Party.

The first section has Mr Sroubek saying his estranged wife was "completely fine, you were absolutely fine two days ago".

"All of a sudden you start again like having this this, I don't know, is it him? Is it because of him? What the f**k is he?

"Seriously do you want me to do something stupid? Do you want me to send somebody to talk to you? Because you are doing crazy stuff," he says.

"You were fine with it and I keep my word."

The second extract at the end of the phone call has Mr Sroubek saying, "the day before yesterday, you go out with this prick and all of a sudden everything is changing. You know what, I'm not going to f**king let it go, f**k off."
