Kiwis lax attitude to credit card debt highlighted in study

A new study reveals New Zealanders have a lax attitude when it comes to credit cards, with one in three failing to pay off their balance in full each month and one in 10 saying they'd be comfortable with up to $10,000 worth of debt on their credit cards.

Financial advisor Liz Dudson says debt on a credit card is okay unless you are going to pay it off.

"I think the key thing is being aware with your money," Ms Dudson told TVNZ1's Breakfast.

"When you're comfortable with debt you tend to be comfortable with debt through most of your life."

"That doesn't do you any favours and ultimately it limits your choices around your life because of limitations around money," she added.
