Kenny McFadden, the Kiwi basketball legend who helped discover Steven Adams, now fighting his own battle

Sunday followed Kenny McFadden as he received a life-saving kidney transplant.

A lot of people know the name Kenny McFadden - he’s the man behind the success of Kiwi NBA star Steven Adams.

McFadden discovered Adams when he was just 14-years-old and trained him to become a NBA superstar.

Every day, McFadden trains other Kiwi kids who dream of playing in the biggest, richest basketball league in the world.

But what many don’t know about McFadden is that in between coaching he has been battling a serious illness. 

Recently, the famous mentor underwent a life-saving kidney transplant.

TVNZ’s Sunday programme followed McFadden as he was given another chance at life.
