In a local tradition brought back to life, neighbours on a Point Wells cul-de-sac dug a hangi in a traffic island to feed the local community.
Instead of attempting to dig up the hard dirt in a back yard, the locals chose to cook their hangi in the traffic island at the end of a dead-end street.
After cooking was done, the locals gathered together to sit down and eat the meal on New Year's Eve as part of the local event.
