Jury appointed for Malcolm Rewa trial

A jury of seven men and five women has been selected in the trial of Malcolm Rewa in the High Court in Auckland.

Rewa is facing one charge of murdering Auckland woman Susan Burdett in March 1992.

Rewa tried to argue his right to a fair trial has been prejudiced by media coverage, including a recent TVNZ drama on Teina Pora.

The judge, Justice Venning, has told the jury the trial is expected to last four weeks.

Crown Prosecutor Gareth Kayes will begin his opening address shortly before midday.
