Judges pick NZ firm for prestigious tech award of Sony and Samsung

Christchurch technology company Swiftpoint has received international acclaim at a technology awards ceremony in New York.

Kiwi technology company Swiftpoint has won an innovation prize at a special award ceremony in New York.

Swiftpoint's GT computer mouse was chosen ahead of major technology market players including Sony, Phillips, LG, and Samsung to take a prestigious best of innovation prize at the CES Innovation Awards.

The annual award ceremony acknowledges the outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology projects.

The rechargeable and wireless mouse mimics computer and tablet touch screen functions meaning the user never has to use the touch screen.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present.

Swiftpoint founder and CEO Grant Odgers says it is a "tremendous honour" the company had been awarded the 'Best of Innovation Award' in the computer peripherals category.

"I'm very proud to see the work of our team achieve world recognition," he said.
