John Campbell labels Christchurch terror attacks: 'A terrible insult to everything this city wants to stand for'

March 15, 2019

In the aftermath of today's mass shootings, Campbell reflects on another tragedy in the Garden City.

"An insult to everything Christchurch stands for." That's what today's terror attacks are to a city that's already endured much tragedy over the past decade, says John Campbell.

With 40 now confirmed dead following today's devastating shootings at two separate mosques, Christchurch is again reeling from a disaster.

Having extensively covered the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, John Campbell laid it all bare as to exactly what today's attacks mean.

"Christchurch was singled out for a reason, a community within Christchurch was singled out for a reason, and that reason was hatred," he says.

"This ultimately is an act that has no place anywhere, it's shattering to be here.

"This just feels like a terrible insult to everything this city wants to stand for."
