An inspirational Christchurch teenager, whose approach to his cancer diagnosis commanded him mad respect and global attention, has landed a book deal.
Jake Bailey has singed a deal with Penguin Books NZ 365 days after taking the world by storm with his inspirational head boy speech at Christchurch Boys' High School.
Just a week before giving the speech, Bailey was diagnosed with Burkitt's non-Hodgkinson lymphoma and was told he would only have three weeks to live if left untreated.
He's had a whirlwind of a year picking up world-wide support, claiming Massey University's 2015 Quote of the Year in December and in January sharing news his cancer is in remission.
One year on and Bailey is able to announce an exciting book deal with Penguin Books NZ.
Bailey said in a Facebook post that the book will be focused on his experiences over the past 12 months.
"My diagnosis, treatment, recovery and an honest account of everything in between... which will hit the shelves next May."
Along with his book deal, Bailey has also signed with Celebrity Speakers NZ.
Bailey said in the post, "thank you for your ongoing support and kind messages - they have absolutely been the defining factor of the past 365 days and everything within it, and I'm so grateful for that".
