Jacinda Ardern reveals what she wants for Christmas in Secret Santa event

December 12, 2017

The PM has signed up to a Secret Santa event run by NZ Post.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says what she really wants for Christmas is a little rest and relaxation.

Ms Ardern answered questions today about her NZ Post Secret Santa participation - an event in which Kiwis sign up to give an anonymous gift to another Kiwi while also receiving one in return.

She said she had bought a gift yesterday to send off, and didn't want to reveal what it was.

"That would take the 'secret' out of 'secret santa' - I won't be disclosing to the individual that it's come from me," she said.

Ms Ardern said her self-confessed love of Christmas was well-known and that Kiwis were known for their generosity.

In terms of what she wanted for herself in the event, Ms Ardern said there isn't much that she needs.

"If they can bottle sleep and relaxation then I'd be up for that," she joked.

"There's not a lot I need in my life - I just enjoy being part of the experience."
