Invercargill youths aged 11-16 identified in sickening kitten killing video

December 13, 2017

The people involved in a graphic video showing a kitten being killed in Invercargill have been identified.

The group of people responsible for the animal's death are all youths aged between 11 and 16, police say.

The youths will be interviewed by police before being referred to the Invercargill Youth Services team.

The SPCA has since removed three kittens from the home of one of the youths, Constable Chris Wakelin says.

The kittens will be examined before being rehomed.

Constable Wakelin says, "We recognise that the content of the video has been extremely upsetting for people across New Zealand.

"Our staff have also been sickened by the video."
