Witness Mohan Ibrahim has described the moment the gunman walks into Deans Ave mosque in Christchurch, starting the worst terrorist attack in New Zealand's history.

"I cannot believe my eyes, what I saw," Mr Ibrahim says.

He has been living in New Zealand for five years and he said he never expected to see anything like this.

“I’m really lucky, but I’m really speechless, I was so shaken", he told the BBC.

“This is unacceptable, I cannot believe my eyes, what I saw.

"I never expected it because I’ve been living here for five years and because I know New Zealand is one of the safest countries – I’m so scared now."

Mr Ibrahim was inside the mosque when the gunman opened fire.

“I was inside the mosque on the right side and when I heard the fire sound of the gun shooter he was coming from the main door... he came to the mosque and was randomly shooting.

“It was like 10 to 15 minutes of continuous shooting, it was so loud.”

“I saw one injured person with a shirt around his chest he was so badly injured, and the ambulance came to rescue him and gave him some medicine," Mr Ibrahim said.
