The identity of the man accused of decapitating a Petone pensioner can be revealed as Eugene Baker.
The 41-year-old appeared in the High Court in Wellington this morning.
Justice Robert Dobson said Baker is remanded in custody and will appear on May 1 for a review of the case.
Francis Tyson, 71, was found decapitated at a Housing New Zealand complex on Jackson St on November 30 last year.
Baker is also charged with wilful damage and possessing drugs for sale and supply.
A trial for Baker is not likely to take place until February 2020, Justice Dobson said.
