Husband of woman who died in CTV building collapse inspired by Pike River families to keep fighting for justice

The husband of a woman who died in the CTV building collapse in 2011 says the Pike River families' determination inspires him to keep fighting for justice.

Maan Alkaisi was at the High Court in Wellington today as the Government tries to get a review of the decision not to prosecute the building's designer.

"No one has been held to account and there has been no closure for the families," Mr Alkaisi told 1 NEWS.

Lawyers today argued disciplinary action against engineer Alan Reay shouldn't have ended when he resigned from the Institution of Professional Engineers.

However, the defence argues the organisation, now known as Engineering New Zealand is simply a professional body.

Last year police announced there would be no criminal prosecution over the collapse, despite considering a possible manslaughter charge after finding significant design deficiencies.

"It's definitely very tough, the fact that I'm still standing here after almost eight years doesn't tell us much about our legal system," Mr Alkaisi said.

The case is continuing in the High Court in Wellington.
