Hundreds without power in South Auckland after car crashes into pole

Mill Rd in the Auckland suburd of Takanini is currently closed due to a crash, and as a result, parts of the surrounding suburbs are without power.

A single vehicle collided with a pole around 7:30 this morning, bringing down power lines.

Mill Rd is closed between Popes Rd and Airfield Rd, with diversions in place.

Police said two people sustained minor injuries in the crash.

A few hundred Vector customers in Takanini, Alfriston, Clevedon and Brookby are experiencing the outage.

A Vector spokeswoman told 1 NEWS it is unclear when power will be restored, but everything is expected to be resolved by later today.
