House fire in Dunedin treated as suspicious




A fire at a house in Dunedin is being treated as suspicious.

The vacant Housing New Zealand property in Mosgiel was extensively damaged in the blaze that started around 2.40am this morning.

Two fire crews arrived at the scene on Perth Street but called in a further two crews for assistance.

Police guarded the scene overnight and a fire investigator is expected to arrive later this morning, Fire and Emergency shift manager Andrew Norris says.

There were no injuries in the blaze.

Meanwhile, fire crews were also called out to a blaze in Ashburton around 10.30pm on Saturday.

A three-bay shed was damaged along with a vehicle in the fire at a rural property.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
