Four motorcyclists have died on NZ roads today in four horrific hours

One crash near Invercargill that claimed two lives involved three motorbikes.

It’s been a horror 48 hours on our roads for motorcyclists, with at least four riders killed.

The latest crash occurred on Lower Buller Gorge Road near Westport just after 4pm, police confirmed.

It happened less than an hour after a fatal crash in the Auckland suburb of Henderson around 3.15pm. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Henderson Valley Road remained blocked from Forest Hill Road as emergency services attend the site of the accident. 

Less than three hours earlier, at about 12.45pm, two motorcyclists died and another was critically injured following a three-motorcycle crash near Invercargill.

Yesterday, one person died after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in the Christchurch suburb of Sydenham.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating all three of today's crash scenes.

Colombo St and Sandyford St are closed as police comb the crash site.
