Hopes high for Northland economic boost with incoming coalition tipped as win

Four Northland MP's are set to take up ministerial roles in the new government.

The new Labour-led government is being tipped as a win for Northland, with hopes pinned on a surge in new representation and influence in parliament.

Talk of moving the Port of Auckland to Northland is now looking like a real possibility.

Northland, previously unrepresented, will now have four Northland politicians as ministers in the new government.

Winston Peters has been offered the deputy prime minister role, NZ First MP is expected to snag one of the promised portfolios, and Labour's Kelvin Davis and Peeni Henare will also hold portfolios.
