Hit-and-run by car collision outside Taranaki library leaves one pedestrian in serious condition

One person has been injured after being hit by a car, which fled the scene, outside a library in Taranaki.

A police spokesperson told 1NEWS the incident occurred outside Opunake Library around 2.25pm today.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Police have since located the driver and they are assisting police with their inquiries.

A St John's spokesperson says the person has been transported to Taranaki Base Hospital.
