Heavy rain to soak parts of New Zealand

A Severe Weather Warning is in place for parts of New Zealand, with heavy rain predicted to be on the way today and tomorrow. 

MetService say heavy rain could hit the Nelson area west of Motueka, Westland from Otira northwards and Buller, Westland south of Otira and Fiordland north of Doubtful Sound from today to tomorrow morning. 

Mount Taranaki is also forecast to see heavy rain from 2am to 10am Monday.

MetService have also issued a Severe Weather Watch for heavy rain around the Richmond ranges and Marlborough Sounds, and a strong wind watch for Westland and Canterbury high Country, Fiordland, Otago and Southland.
