October 6, 2017

Otara drive-by victim Levaula Amosa escaped last night's shooting with just a finger injury, but his two friends were hospitalised.

One of the victims caught up in a drive by shooting in South Auckland last night has opened up about the incident which left two teenagers in hospital with gunshot wounds.

Levaula Amosa says he was walking with two friends in Otara when a car full of people randomly pulled up beside them asking for a fight.

"They just pulled over and asked for a one on one fight, then I went up to them and they got embarrassed and went back and got the gun because they can't fight," Mr Amosa told 1 NEWS from outside his Otara residence today.

"Then they came back and pulled the window down and started shooting at us."

The 21-year-old says the shooter asked his friends for a fight before coming back with a gun in Otara, South Auckland, last night.

Mr Amosa was shot in the finger and released from hospital overnight.

His other two friends weren't so lucky, Mr Amosa saying a 15-year-old was shot in the face and a 14-year-old shot in the arm.

"I feel angry about my friends, for no reason they done this for no reason, the boys I was with are really young only 14 and 15 and they done this," he said.

When asked how he felt after the shooting, Mr Amosa said he was angry.

St John says three people have suffered gunshot wounds after an incident in Otara.

"Don't bring a gun to a fist fight. The police better find them first, if I see them I'm gonna break their f***ing face," he said.

Mr Amosa is scared the shooters may target him at his home and is staying at a different address until the culprits are caught.

Police believe three offenders were in the vehicle with a shotgun, and they are still searching for the shooters.

Both of the teenagers are in Middlemore hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
