Alex Latimer hasn’t been seen since Sunday and his car was found burnt out on the side of the road in Napier the following day.

A lifestyle property in Te Haroto, north of Napier, is being extensively searched by police in connection to the disappearance of a Napier man.

30-year-old Alex Latimer hasn’t been seen since Sunday and his car was found burnt out on the side of the road in Napier on Monday.

Police have been searching the property on State Highway 5 for two days and have set up three tents at the back of the section near a pig sty.

At least eight investigators have been seen working on the property in boiler suits.

The property has two cows in the paddocks as well as a number of pigs.

Police also conducted a search of a property in Napier yesterday.

Two men, aged 26 and 24, have been charged with assault in relation to the investigation and appeared in the Hasting District Court today.

Both have been granted name suppression and have been remanded in custody to appear later this month.

Police say further charges were likely.

Police are appealing to the public for any sightings of Mr Latimer’s vehicle, a white 2000 Toyota Corolla hatchback, between Te Haroto and Omaranui Road, Napier between Sunday 30 September and 8am Monday 1 October.

Mr Latimer was last seen at the Bayview BP service station at 1:25am Sunday 30 September.
