Gun-wielding man who threatened woman at campground near Hunterville shot by Police

A man was shot by Police at a campground in the Manawatu-Wanganui region after he threatened a woman with a firearm.

Police say they were called to a camp ground at Vinegar Hill at 9.25am this morning.

The campground is located on State Highway 54 near Hunterville.

The man was subsequently shot by Police, a spokesperson said, and he sustained a non-life threatening injury.

He was treated for his wound and taken into custody.

Nobody else was injured, Police said.

The incident will be investigated by Police.
