Grace Millane carried out a selfless act before her death in New Zealand by cutting off her long locks so it could be turned into wigs for a children's cancer charity.

The 22-year-old made the donation shortly before leaving the UK to go on her round the world trip that would end so tragically in Auckland this month.

"She had really long hair before she left. But she cut it all off and donated it to the Little Princess Trust," Grace's older brother Michael told The Sun.

A 26-year-old Auckland man has been charged with the murder of Grace Millane, whose body was found in west Auckland bushland on Sunday December 9.

The 22-year-old English woman had arrived in New Zealand last month as part of a year-long world trip after graduating from university.

Her brother Michael also told The Sun that his sister's death "should not deter any man or woman from following their dreams."
