Good Sorts: Matamata couple have spent the past decade driving patients to their hospital appointments

August 18, 2019

Ngaire and Ernie Lepper are on a mission to make sure no one gets left behind.

Matamata couple Ngaire and Ernie Lepper have spent the past decade driving people to their hospital appointments due to no public transport to Hamilton or its hospital.

The couple don’t plan on stopping their Matamata Community Health Shuttle service any time soon, saying it suits them because of their age.

Mr Lepper sympathises with patients as he was once given two years to live, 10 years ago.

He says it's given him a bit of context and understands what people are going through.
