Getaway car torched after worker threatened in robbery of Palmerston North dairy

A worker was threatened and a getaway car was torched after the robbery of a dairy in Palmerston North today.

A Police Central Communications spokesperson told 1 NEWS staff at the Winchester Store, on Ruahine Street, were threatened by a man who robbed the store before fleeing in a car driven by another suspect.

The car was abandoned on Galway Ave after being set alight.

The suspects fled the scene in a light-coloured saloon-type vehicle to Tahitua Street, in the direction of Albert Street.

Police are asking for assistance by members of the public who may have seen the vehicle.
