Gas leak at Napier's Briscoes contained

A gas leak near Napier's Briscoes store has been contained and cordons have been lifted after fears a car struck a gas pipe.

Police said "what is believed to be a gas pipe" had been hit at the Hastings St store and Briscoes had been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The Hastings Street store was evacuated and the area was sectioned off while police handled the incident.
