A Kiwi builder who became the first Māori to marry into the UK's royal family has split from his wife.

Gary Lewis married Lady Davina Windsor at Kensington Palace in 2004.

The pair, who are reported to have divorced last year, have two children together and spent time living in Auckland during their marriage.

Lady Davina is the daughter of the Queen's first cousin, the Duke of Gloucester.
