Further action could be on the cards for Wellington rail staff

November 17, 2017

Further industrial action could be on the cards for rail staff in Wellington after union officials and network operators accused each other of lying and bullying during yesterday's strike.

Howard Phillips of the Rail and Maritime Transport Union says the strike is about fighting for the working conditions of train drivers and workers. 1 NEWS

While train services are back to normal today, the union can still call another strike.

Workers say conditions and pay rates have changed since international companies took control from Kiwirail, but rail operator Transdev says their offer to staff is 'good'.
