Full video: Dave Dobbyn's solemn and beautiful performance of Welcome Home at Passchendaele commemorations

Today marks 100 years since 846 Kiwi soldiers lost their lives in the Battle of Passchendaele.

Kiwi music legend Dave Dobbyn has performed a beautiful version of his classic song, Welcome Home, at Passchendaele commemorations this morning, filling the grounds of a Belgian war memorial with the sounds of New Zealand.

In one of New Zealand's darkest days, 846 Kiwi soldiers lost their lives in the World War I battle.

Dobbyn played in front of the crowd solo with just his guitar for company, singing a haunting version of his hit song  after a haka was performed to welcome guests to the site.

Today marks 100 years since 846 Kiwi soldiers lost their lives in the Battle of Passchendaele as they passed through Ypres.
