There have been four new cases of Covid-19 in managed isolation in the past 48 hours.

No cases have been recorded in the community.

Two historical cases have also been identified.

This brings the total number of active cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand to 39, with 10 previously reported cases now recovered.

Two of these new cases flew together from Australia on August 10 and tested positive for the virus on their third day in managed isolation.

Another case arrived in the country from the United Kingdom via Qatar and Australia on August 11, testing positive during routine testing on their first day in MIQ.

The other traveller arrived from Hungary on August 12, passing through Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia.

They tested positive on arrival to New Zealand.

All cases have been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

It comes after Associate Health Minister Ayesha Verrall told Q+A the Government won’t set vaccine targets to avoid discouraging people from getting the jab.

"If we set a threshold now, we may well have to change it when we’re confronted with new facts in six months time."

Earlier this week, the Government advisory group led by Sir David Skegg warned opening the borders fully before a high uptake of the vaccine would be risky.

To date, more than 2.48 million doses of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine have been administered in New Zealand as of 11.59pm on August 14.

According to the Ministry of Health, 1.57 million of these are first doses of the vaccine, 910,731 are second doses.
