Tamaki Housing Group is today protesting at the Northern Glen Innes Redevelopment, saying "long-standing Glen Innes residents were evicted from their [state] homes" to make way for private homes.

The group planned to "disrupt the 2pm open home that was set for this afternoon".

Police say the majority of protesters stayed off the property, and only the four people who broke into the open home on Apirana Avenue were arrested.

THG said in a statement today it "demands that these houses be given to state housing tenants and to stop the current redevelopment process which benefits private developers not the community that is being destroyed".
