Former defence attaché Alfred Keating has been found guilty of planting a hidden camera in the toilets of the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC.

Keating, 59, was on trial in the Auckland District Court, accused of attempting to make an intimate visual recording using a Brickhouse micro camera in the embassy unisex toilets.

It was discovered in July 2017.

Keating denied the charge.

He was remanded on bail ahead of sentencing on June 25.
