Three staff members from Auckland's Paremoremo Prison required medical treatment today after allegedly being assaulted by five prisoners.
Ambulance staff were called to the prison before 2pm today, with one of the guards taken to hospital for treatment.
The other two were taken to a local Accident and Emergency clinic, police told 1 News.

The attack is believed to be a suspected stabbing, with all three of the guards wearing stab-proof vests.
None of the injuries are life-threatening, according to Northern Regional Commissioner Jeanette Burns.
She says no assault or violence is tolerated in prison and anyone who uses violence will be held to account.
