Fire services battled a home ablaze in the Christchurch suburb of Clifton this morning.

Crews arrived at the scene shortly before 2.30am to find the house well involved in fire.
Four Fire crews battled the blaze until the early hours of this morning with the cause of the fire still being unknown.
As the house was abandoned the fire is being treated as suspicious. A Fire communications spokesperson said an investigation into how the fire started has been opened.
One firefighter has been transported to Christchurch hospital after receiving minor injuries to his ankle.
