February 14, 2020

The grass fire broke out on February 13.

Firefighters remained overnight at a grass fire which engulfed paddocks in Rolleston near Christchurch.

More than 40 hectares were scorched after the blaze broke out near Waterholes Road and Main South Road, State Highway One yesterday.

Extra crews will be back at first light this morning to try and fully extinguish the fire after high winds hampered their efforts yesterday.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined but is being investigated.
