Expert weighs in on capital gains tax that could be recommended by Tax Working Group

The tax working group's final report will be released later this morning and it's expected to make some major recommendations including potentially suggesting a capital gains tax.

One accountant says it'll be hard to get support for such a tax across party lines.

"It may well be that some components of capital gains tax are quite palatable but when it comes to things like the family bach for example - that would be subject to a capital gains tax - that's going to become very contentious and I wouldn't like the job of selling that," Maurits Van Den Berg of Staples Rodway told TVNZ1's Breakfast today.

The Tax Working Group's Final Report will be made public at 11am today.
