Exclusive video: 1 NEWS reporter confronts US Ambassador Scott Brown over 'obnoxious' behaviour complaints in Samoa

1 NEWS understands the Office of the Inspector General sent investigators to Samoa and Wellington after July's incident.

The US Ambassador to New Zealand, Scott Brown, is under investigation after complaints about his behaviour at an official function in Samoa.

For three weeks the US Government has refused to confirm the investigation to 1 NEWS.

He went public after being asked questions by 1 NEWS at a function in Wellington.

1 NEWS understands the Office of the Inspector General sent investigators to Samoa and Wellington after the incident in July.

Witnesses spoken to by 1 NEWS described how he was rude to guests who he believed were talking during his speech at the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps at the US Residence in Apia. 

One guest said behaved "obnoxiously". 

Sources told 1 NEWS he was kept away from this year’s Pacific Island Affairs forum in Samoa because of the complaints

Spokeswoman Janine Burns earlier said she wouldn't comment on personnel matters.
