'Enough support in the House to pass' – Jacinda Ardern confident ahead of Medicinal Cannabis Bill introduction

The bill will be introduced to the House tomorrow.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is confident ahead of the introduction of the Medicinal Cannabis Bill to Parliament tomorrow.

Speaking alongside Green Party leader James Shaw at a post-cabinet stand up today, Ms Ardern announced the introduction of the bill and that she thinks it has enough support to pass its first reading.

"What we will be producing is what will have enough support in the house to pass," she said.

When asked whether this bill will go far enough for the Greens and include cultivation of cannabis she replied: "There is of course another bill before parliament which does exist, but what we will be producing is a bill that we know has enough support to get through."

Ms Ardern also announced they will give the Foreign Buyer Ban Bill its first reading this week, as well as looking at plans to up the minimum wage.
