Emergency services race to Wellington Airport over hazardous spillage that turned out to be bag of lollies

Emergency services raced to Wellington Airport this afternoon over what was thought to be a spillage of a hazardous substance.

A Wellington Airport spokesperson told 1 NEWS a bag of white crystals was spilled near the taxi ramp.

However, Fire and Emergency NZ tested the substance and it turned out to be nothing more than a bag of "sugar lollies".

No flights were affected over the incident.
