Driver flees police: Pedestrian struck and injured in central Auckland after wanted person's car collides with bus

A driver fleeing police in central Auckland today has led to a pedestrian being struck and injured.

The wanted driver failed to stop for police at around 11am on Queen St.

Police then began a chase but abandoned it due to the dangerous manner of the person's driving.

Later police attempted to reengage in the chase at which point the driver collided with the back of a bus causing the vehicle to hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Anzac Ave and Waterloo Quadrant.

The fleeing driver was apprehended by police a short time later after they attempted to flee on foot.

The pedestrian received minor injuries and didn't require hospital treatment.

The fleeing driver is in custody and faces driving charges.
