Dozens of would-be property owners vying for new KiwiBuild homes in Auckland's Papakura

The 18 homes at the McLennan development in Papakura will be sold through a ballot.

There have been 55 unique ballot entries in KiwiBuild's 18 home McLennan development in Auckland, as the drawing of the winners nears. 

A unique application can compromise of a single person or a couple.

Altogether the 55 applicants have made about 650 individual ballot entries for the 18 McLennan homes.

The stand-alone homes in the McLennan development in Papakura comprise of 12 three-bedroom homes selling for $579,000 and six four-bedroom homes selling for $649,000. The ballot will be drawn on Friday. 

Across the country, more than 44,000 people have registered their interest KiwiBuild, and 5,794 have started the pre-qualification process.

Two hundred and seventeen have completed pre-qualification, which asks for certified documentation including proof of citizenship or residency, proof of income and financial pre-approval from a bank or other lender.

On Sunday, the South Island's first KiwiBuild development  was been announced by the Government  for Wanaka, with 211 homes to be built over the next two years.
