'Don't forget your raincoat' - heavy rain set to drench much of the country tomorrow




It would be wise to prepare the wet weather gear, as a front looks set to drench much of the country overnight and tomorrow.

MetService has heavy rain and strong wind warnings in place for northern and central parts of the country tomorrow, with the west and north of the South Island under a heavy rain warning today.

Northland, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua and the Tararua Ranges may all receive 60-70mm of rain in 9-12 hours tomorrow.

The Marlborough Sounds is also under a weather watch for similar amounts of rain from this evening into tomorrow afternoon.

Wind gusts could reach as high as 100 km/h on Great Barrier Island and around the Auckland region tomorrow.
