Did you feel it? Magnitude 4.8 earthquake rattles lower North Island

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck this morning near Ohakune about 9.43am.

GeoNet reports the quake was centred 5km to the northeast of the alpine town and happened at a depth of 84km.

More than 1000 people reported feeling the quake on the Geonet website, including reports from Hamilton, New Plymouth, Napier and Wellington.
