Devastated Indian students have qualifications held back by NZQA for a second time - 'We don't have any options'

The collapse of two academic institutions has seen a group of students possibly having to leave New Zealand without the diplomas they’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on.

A group of international students may have to leave New Zealand without the diplomas they've paid tens of thousands of dollars to study for.

This follows the collapse of two academic institutions, Tasman International Academies and New Zealand National College.

The business students are threatening to protest tomorrow unless the national qualifications authority helps them out.

"We don't have any options, we want to fight for our results, because we spent two years here," student Tania Ahuja told 1 NEWS.

They say NZQA assured them their studies and money would be safe at Tasman Academies, after some of them had previously studied at NZNC.

"I have spent around $30,000 in my three years of study," Lakhwinder Singh said.

With their study visas due to expire, they are begging the Immigration Minister to intervene.

"I really feel for these people, they are in a very difficult situation, it's not their fault and I think the immigration system and education system need to respond to them," Immigration Minister Iain-Lees Galloway said.

The students still have hope with NZQA and the Immigration Minister looking into the situation.
