Demand for King Country swings explodes after recommendation from Kourtney Kardashian

Their product was seen by millions of the US reality TV star’s followers when she posted the list online.

It’s a long way from Matiere in the King Country to Los Angeles.

But a small business, Solvej Swings, run out of the tiny town is reaping the benefits of a recommendation for their wooden swings from reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian.

The infant and toddler swings, which proudly come without a hint of plastic in sight, are made in the town's old bank.

The local wood is cut to size in the neighbouring shop, which was once the butchers.

Kourtney, the oldest of the Kardashian siblings, bought some swings for her family and listed them in her Christmas gift guide seen by millions of her followers, causing an onslaught of demand for the swings.

"In the beginning we did everything ourselves, and now we have come to the stage where we can start to employ people and they can do all the sewing, woodwork and everything and we can just start to manage this thing," says Thomas Mortimer of Solvej Swings.
