Defence Force investigation underway after landing gear fault forces 'wheels up' landing at Ohakea

The New Zealand Defence Force has opened an investigation after a Royal New Zealand Air Force plane malfuctioned during a landing today.

A NZDF spokesperson told 1 NEWS a RNZAF T-6C Texan II conducting basic night flying training was forced to perform a "wheels up landing" at RNZAF Base Ohakea after experiencing a landing gear fault.

The two RNZAF personnel on board responded as trained to do, landed safely and evacuated the aircraft with no injuries, the spokesperson said.

RNZAF Rescue fire responders and local emergency services are at the scene.
