Cyclist, 69, dies from injuries days after Bay of Plenty crash

A cyclist has died from his injuries following a crash in the eastern Bay of Plenty over the weekend.

Police were called to the scene after the cyclist and a car were involved in a collision at a beach car park on West End Road in Ohope at around 12.25pm Saturday.

The cyclist was transported with serious injuries to hospital, where he passed away yesterday, police revealed this afternoon.

He has since been identified as Max Kerrison, 69.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances behind the crash.

* An earlier version of this story suggested the car hit the cyclist. Police said only that there was "an incident... involving a car and cyclist".
