The Unite Union is attempting to negotiate a new collective agreement and higher hourly rates.

It means customers wanting their bucket of K-fry or Mocha Frappuccino from Starbucks have to wait until tomorrow to indulge.

Picket lines were set up from midday in Auckland, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
