An army with a difference is mobilising in lounges, retirement homes and even cafes up and down New Zealand.
Recruits are arming themselves with a somewhat different kind of arsenal - knitting needles and thread - all in an effort to help protect some of the country's tiniest and most vulnerable citizens.
The group, known as the Craft Angels, are knitting, crocheting and sewing items like cardigans, booties and blankets for the babies of families in need.
They may have escaped violence, be short of money or live in cold, damp houses.
